Echocardiography

Our  Echocardiography service is offered by Veterinary Surgeon Ana Maria Pentel CertAVP MRCVS.

Echocardiography allows the investigation of heart murmurs, guides appropriate therapy in patients with symptoms and selects patients that will benefit from initiating treatment while they still do not have symptoms to help prolonging their life symptom free.

The gold standard is to see a Specialist Veterinary Cardiologist. Here at Batchelor, Davidson and Watson are now able to offer cardiology and echocardiography in general practice as a part of the investigation. In unusual cases, we may still recommend referral.

We are currently accepting referrals of adult dogs only and can see the following:

• Adult and geriatric dogs murmurs with or without symptoms
• Coughing patients
• As part of the investigation of syncope/collapse.

We are planning to accept feline patients and puppies in the near future. However if you have one of these patients needing echocardiography and your client is unable to travel to a referral specialist, please contact us as we are happy to review on a case by case basis.
